RT8458E is a high-efficiency PWM Buck topology LED driver controller for high power factor applications. It integrates a PWM controller for high-end gate drivers. Step-down converter for driving external MOSFET and realizing fixed current output. The output signal duty cycle of the RT8458E can be as high as 100%, which is suitable for wide input voltage applications. Offline LED luminaires such as E27 and PAR30 are its application targets.

The working frequency of RT8458E is a fixed 47kHz, with a high-precision reference voltage source of -250mV, a PWM signal comparator and lock logic; it can obtain accurate output current for LED because the average current feedback loop is used. And this current can also be easily adjusted through the chip's ACTL pin to achieve dimming applications. RT8458E also integrates a lot of protection functions to avoid the impact of error status, they include undervoltage lockout (UVLO), overcurrent protection (OCP), and overvoltage protection (OVP). In addition, in order to ensure the reliability of the system, RT8458E also integrates a thermal protection function.

RT8458E is packaged in TSOT-23-6, so the LED drive system using it can be made very compact.
