T8458D is a high-efficiency, high-voltage, constant-current PWM Buck topology LED driver controller that integrates a high-end gate driver PWM controller. Due to the Buck topology, its input voltage is only limited by the withstand voltage level of the external MOSFET, and the output current can be stably regulated by controlling the MOSFET. The duty cycle of its output signal can be as high as 100%, suitable for wide input voltage applications.

The working frequency of RT8458D is fixed at 160kHz, the internal high-precision reference voltage is -220mV, and its composition also includes PWM comparator and latch logic. Its average current feedback loop gives it an accurate output current, which can also be adjusted through the chip's ACTL pin. It has a variety of protection measures to avoid falling into a fault state, including undervoltage lockout protection, overcurrent protection and overvoltage protection. In addition, in order to ensure the reliability of the system, RT8458D also has built-in thermal protection function.

The package of RT8458D is TSOT-23-6, so the LED drive system using it can be made very compact.
